Indiana Young Readers Center Update

IYRC Letters

We’ve been making progress on the Indiana Young Readers Center! Since the last blog update in November 2015, we’ve added beautiful lettering above the main entrance to the room.  Garfield has also been posted outside the room to greet visitors and have his picture taken.

Once the carpet was installed, we added comfortable furniture for kids and big kids!

Additional features will be added this summer. Clifford the Big Red Dog will soon move in with his very own giant doghouse!  Kids will be encouraged to cozy up inside Clifford’s doghouse to read or play.  Our interactive exhibits about Indiana and Indiana authors will also be installed this summer.  Soon these blank shelves will be full of fun activities for kids to learn all about Indiana!

The grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Indiana Young Readers Center will be held Thursday, October 6. It will be open just in time for the Hoosier Homecoming (http://www.in.gov/ibc/2334.htm) celebration!  The Indiana State Library will be participating in this Bicentennial event and will be offering free tours of our beautiful building.  We hope to see you and your family there!

  1. This looks great! We are so fortunate in Indiana to have a young readers center at our state library. I plan to visit.
